Most people write exactly one or two obituaries in their lifetime, under the worst possible circumstances, on a deadline. When they search for help, too much of what they find is either a funeral-home upsell, a template behind a paywall, or an “AI writer” that wants an account and a subscription before it will talk about their mother.
This site is our attempt at the alternative: a genuinely free obituary writer and a library of carefully written templates, built the way we would want them if the phone call came tomorrow. The writer composes everything in your browser — your words about your loved one are never uploaded, stored, or read by anyone here. There is no account, no watermark, and no paid version of the writer.
The site pays its own hosting through nothing more than an optional email list and, one day perhaps, small optional extras that will never touch the writer itself. That’s the whole model. No ads, no urgency banners, no “only 2 templates left.”
We also run funeral-program-template.com, a free builder for printed order-of-service programs — the two tools are designed to be used together in the same hard week.
If something here helped you, we’re glad. If something is broken or could be gentler, please tell us.
